Free train travel
Residents of Saue Parish can travel for free on Elron trains in and between ticket zones II, III, IV and V. Discounted ticket prices are available on the westbound (Paldiski and Turba routes) and also on the south-westbound (Rapla route), which mainly serves the residents of the Maidla area of Saue Parish.
In the westbound direction, you can travel for free from Turba station to Laagri station and vice versa. In the south-west direction, you can travel for free from Valdeku station to Rapla.
You can transfer to Tallinn public transport (city buses) at Laagri and Valdeku stations. Public transport in Tallinn is free of charge for people aged 65+ and students.
Residents of Saue Parish cannot travel for free within the borders of Tallinn (Elron zone I). If your journey takes you from Elron zones II, III, IV and V to zone I (e.g. Balti jaam or Tondi), you only have to pay for a zone I ticket.
Season tickets for zone I and II-V are 15% cheaper for residents of Saue Parish. You can buy a cheaper season ticket on pilet.ee. You can see the ticket prices for residents of Saue parish under the column "Price for residents of Saue Parish".
Add a season ticket to your cart, enter your ID or personalised public transport card number and the system will automatically calculate your discounted price, which you will see after pressing the "Pay" button.
Starting from April 2024, you no longer need to buy a bicycle ticket on electric city trains (Keila, Paldiski, Turba, Kloogaranna, Aegviidu routes). It is free of charge to have a bicycle on these routes.
You do not need to buy a bicycle ticket if you use a folding bicycle that is folded during the train journey or a scooter with wheels less than 25 cm in diameter.
The following people do not have to purchase a bicycle ticket: people aged 65+; children who have not reached the age of seven by 1 October of the active school year or whose school attendance has been postponed; disabled people up to and including 16 years of age; people with profound disabilities; people with severe visual impairment; and people accompanying someone with a profound or severe visual impairment.
You need three cards to enjoy cheap train travel
An ID card, public transport card and Elron card. You only need an Elron card if you plan to buy a ticket on the train with the money loaded on that card. You do not have to have an Elron card if the ticket is purchased with a public transport card.
You can also buy tickets on board using a bank card or cash.
Pupils who use the train to travel to and from school should submit an application for discounts on Elron trains to Saue Parish and get an Elron card, which the local government will link to a season ticket.
